9th May, 2020
It’s been nearly 10 years since I was introduced to Yoga by Afreen. We even ran a 6-month program at a municipality school in Pune where she taught Yoga and I taught them about organic farming. Later I practised under Afreen and Khushmita (of Urban Ashram, Pune) for a very short while. But it was only after I had a ligament tear during a game of football in August 2015 that I started looking for other fitness regimes that will help me stay fit and also naturally heal my leg.
In early 2016 I enrolled at Shri Yog in Pune for a short while until I moved to Delhi. Their care and attention helped me build strength in my leg and also made me believe in the power of the body to self-heal!
Yoga eluded me until my return to Pune in 2018. However, I was really lucky to find a very capable teacher who runs an amazing studio in Pune, Rays Fitness Studio. My time in Delhi reset most of my understanding of Yoga until I began practising under her.
From being very complacent about my practice in 2016 to practising Yoga at least 4 times in a week in 2020 has been a very rich and rewarding experience. I’m grateful to my teacher at Rays Fitness Studio, Rewati Ma’am, who has put up various videos on her youtube channel (link here) as well as to Down Dog App (link here) that has helped me to practice any time of the day during the lockdown.
This day and post is dedicated to all those people and beings (seen & unseen) who have helped me in my quest to learn yoga. They have taught me to enjoy the union of the breath with the body.
